Wednesday 9th of February 2011

A series of images by Adam Hinton shot for Manfrotto, which are finalists in the Sony World Photography Awards

This series of images by Adam Hinton, which were commissioned by tripod manufacturers Manfrotto, have been shortlisted  in the Commercial/Campaign category of the Sony World Photography Awards.
The Sony World Photography Awards are organised by the World Photography Organisation who invite entries from professional photographers around the world in 15 different categories across 3 genres - Commercial, Fine Art, Photojournalism and Documentary. They also run an open section with a further 10 different  categories for amateurs.
The 2011 competitions attracted more submissions than ever before, with over 105,000 entries from 162 counties. The international panel of judges who had the difficult task of sifting through the entries and choosing the finalists included: photographers Elizabeth Zeschin, Julia Fullerton-Batten, RJ Muna (US), Liu Heung Shing (China), Pedro Meyer (Mexico) and Rena Effendi (Azerbaijan); photographer's agent Terri Manduca; Michael Trow, Photo Editor of British Vogue; Caprice Horn, Director of Gallerie Caprice Horn in Germany; Francis Hodgson, consultant and Financial Times Photo Critic; Elisabeth Biondi, Visuals Editor of The New Yorker Magazine; and Stephen Mayes, Managing Director of the VII Photo Agency in New York.
The results will be announced on Thursday 27th April during a red carpet ceremony at the Odeon Leicester Square, London, which will be followed by a party at Somerset House. Awards will be presented to the winners of the Open Competition, Professional Competition, the Student Focus Award, the Moving Image Award, the Outstanding Contribution to Photography award and of course the professional photographer of the year who receives the coveted L'Iris d'Or.

This series of images, shot for Manfrotto by Adam Hinton, have been selected for the finals of the Sony World Photography Awards
