International Photography Awards Announced

Wednesday 2nd of September 2009

Martin Brent's image of the tree divers of Negril, JamaicaLensmodern member Martin Brent has been awarded 1st place in the 'Editorial - Other' category of the recently announced 2009 International Photography Awards. The series of images entitled Tree Divers', shows a group of Jamaican men who, at great personal risk, strike graceful poses as they literally dive from the brittle branches of trees clinging to the cliff edges of Negril before diving into the ocean 60 feet below. Martin's series of images was also shortlisted for the 25th AOP Awards in 2008.
The International Photography Awards is an annual competition for professional, amateur, and student photographers which aims to "salute the achievements of the world's finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography." Several other Lensmodern members also received honorable mentions in the awards this year, including Massimo Cristaldi, Stuart Hall, Edo Kars, Anno Pieterse, Simon Stock, Morgan Silk and Alex Telfer. All the selected images can be seen on the IPA website www.photoawards.com.
