Martin Brent is Advertising Photographer of the Year

Wednesday 12th of May 2010

Lensmodern member Martin Brent has been awarded the title 'Advertising Photographer of the Year' at the Sony World Photography Awards 2010. The presentation took place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on 22nd April during the Cannes World Photography Festival, and was followed by a black-tie dinner and party at the Majestic. Martin was delighted to receive his award from Scott Thode, a photographer he has always admired.
The entries for the Advertising section were selected by a prestigious judging panel which comprised photographers Nadav Kander and Scott Thode, Chloe Limpkin of Harpers Bazaar and Chris Sealy of Autograph. Martin's series of winning images, entitled 'Dirty Mouth', were shot for the UK Central Office of Information to warn about the dangers of smoking contraband cigarettes. Though shocking, the images relay an important message and the campaign itself was hugely successful.
For further details of the Sony World Photography Awards visit their website - www.worldphotographyawards.org - or read Martin's journal.
